“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children. . ." Deut 6:6-7

Word-Permeated Life

What is it that governs our life? For some, it is their ego, some others their parent’s ambitions or aspirations, few others their ideologies, and still others their striving for success and highest positions in various fields. But we who claim ourselves as the children of God should make our life governed by the words that He commands: “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.  You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.  You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (Deut 6:6-9) First it must be kept in the heart of the one who receives as a treasure, then it must be carefully shared with his offspring every time opportunity arises, and then it must be kept as a jewel in the body, and even the doorpost and gate shall be inscribed so that everyone who passes the way may receive and meditate, for He desires that our entire life be permeated by His life-giving word.

Abba, Thank You for the command of the rule of Your word in our life. Let Your Spirit make us meditate and live by it every day of our life, In Jesus’ life-giving Name, Amen.
