No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. Gen 17:5-6

Reward of Faith

It is natural for anyone to feel safe and secure in his own land, by his family, surrounded by the kindred; but it needs exceedingly great faith to leave everything behind, believing in the word and promise of God who assured providence: “Now the Lord had said to Abram: ‘Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.’” (Gen 12:1-2) God is honored and gets satisfied when we fully trust Him and His word; and that’s why He takes the responsibility of the life of the man of faith whose name and destiny He says He has changed: “No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.” (Gen 17:5-6) Faith needs to stand and withstand in the seemingly tough and unbelievable circumstances, and Abraham kept his faith despite several tests and trials, and got rewarded by the true and living God. May we be ever ready to depend on the God of Abraham, who would be pleased by our faith and honor our faith by His exceeding providence and blessing.

Abba, Thank You for setting the faith of Abraham as a model to be followed. Let Your Spirit make us hold fast to Your words in faith every day, In Jesus’ Most Reliable Name, Amen.
