Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. 1 Pet 3:3

Warning and Recommendation

Signs by the roadside are kept there not to control us or rob us of our freedom to drive, but to guide and protect us from possible and potential dangers. In the same way, the holy scriptures give us warnings as to how we should appear, decorate and present ourselves in public in order to maintain the dignity of our personhood. An important warning is given to women living in any time period as to how they should protect themselves in front of others: “Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes.” (1 Pet 3:3) A huge amount of hard-earned money and invaluable time are wasted upon, playing to the tune of the industry of fashion and beauty that controls and chases women to accept the imposed norms of beauty, to get recognition from the hands of money-hungry industry. Peter, the chief apostle offers a recommendation as to how they should take pride in the internal beauty that well pleases God, their Creator: “You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” (1 Pet 3:4) It needs wisdom and intelligence to accept and practice this beauty tips from the sacred author. May we be convinced of caring for the internal beauty and neglect the culture that demeans women as objects of lust and passion.

Abba, Thank You for the warning regarding this world’s contemporary culture of the evil of fashion and design. Let Your Spirit convince us of the internal beauty that You desire and appreciate, In Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
