When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Lk 11:2

Address and Content

We learn many things from parents, teachers and society. And the majority of our learning come from the school. The apostles, who got schooled by the master teacher, learned the lessons on prayer from Jesus Himself. The effectiveness of prayer depends upon the address and the content. To, the Father, Heaven should be the address; and the primary content should be praising His Name, welcoming His Kingdom, and expressing our willingness to accept and surrender entirely to His Will: “And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.” (Lk 11:2). There can be no compromise in the primary substance of the prayer, but we can include all our needs next - like the need for our food, the need for forgiveness of sins, the need for protection, and so on. Anything that does not correspond to the will of the Father who has authority over us may be or can be rejected and denied, as it happened in the prayer life of Jesus Himself: “Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” (Lk 22:42) May we fully agree upon the condition that His will be done, if we depend on Him and desire His blessings in our life.

Abba, Thank You for motivating us to accept Your Will in our life. Let Your Spirit give us humility and strength to accept Your will, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
