Exercise of Faith

Everyday activities are very important in the life of an individual and the community. Anyone who wants to excel in his or her desired field should put in daily efforts in achieving it, based on the desire and commitment toward the cause of that. The fields of art, literature, music and sports, or any serious job, demand the investment of time and discipline regarding that; and a spiritual development in life is not an exception to all this. A simple look at the habits and practices of the communion of the early believers, headed and guided by the Apostles, reveals elements of this: “They worshiped together regularly at the Temple each day, met in small groups in homes for Communion, and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness.” (Acts 2:46) Three things stand out as the secret and strength of their being as witnesses to Christ: daily worship in the temple, daily communion at their homes, and the sharing of the meal with gladness and gratitude. Daniel’s daily and regular habit of exercise of faith, troubled the enemies of faith and led them to their own destruction: “When Daniel learned that the document had been signed, he went to his house. An upper room in his house had windows that opened in the direction of Jerusalem. Three times each day he got down on his knees and prayed to his God. He had always praised God this way.” (Dan 6:10). The enemy of faith does not mind the rituals and occasional piety of men, but the daily and regular habits of faith. May God grant us a heart that allows us to follow the guidelines that strengthened the believers in their exercise of faith, and live as living witnesses of the Gospel we preach.

Abba, Thank you for the nourishment of the word that leads us to follow the practices of the first believers. Let Your Spirit make us be fervent in our daily exercise of faith, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
