Be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Eph 5:1-2

The Pleasant Fragrance

Most of the things in the world have smell that can be sensed and observed by living beings, including human beings. The industry that produces aroma makes millions by offering the mankind with a variety of flavors according to the need of each individual. The scent, aroma or fragrance that one uses or produces either makes people be attracted to it, or make them move away from it. Paul talks about, and speaks for, the scent that comes out of the sacrifice Our Lord offered on our behalf for the forgiveness of our sins, as the most holy fragrant offering that pleased God forever. The cause of the sacrifice for which it was made, is the perfect love of God, that perfects us as pleasing and acceptable to God as His dearest children. Hence, Paul reminds us of the reminiscence of the atmosphere in which the perfect reconciliation took place, and invites us to live up to such magnificent vocation: “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Eph 5:1-2) May God cleanse us all by the precious blood of His Son’s offering so that we may sense and be attracted to this holy aroma.

Abba, Thank You for the arrangement of the offering of the pleasant aroma on our behalf. Let Your Spirit make us be attracted and united to this Only Sacrifice all the days of our life, In Jesus’ Most Fragrant Name, Amen.
