for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. Joel

Showers of Blessing

There is an order that is set in motion in the entire creation for the well-being of the mankind and all other creatures. Receiving of the wealth of rain in the season of seedtime, and the time before harvest, must have made the human beings grateful and humble before the Creator and Provider of their sustenance. Deprivation of rain in season and excessive outpouring of it were considered in the ancient world, as in today's world, as a consequence of a rupture in the relationship between the human and the divine. Promise of rain in season was the prophesy that came to the people as the sign of forgiveness and restoration, as revealed through Joel: “Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.” (Joel 2:23) May we realize our dependence on God’s mercy and never take for granted His acts of providence as accidental course of nature, but be thankful for His care and concern each and every season of our lives.

Abba, Thank You for the gift of seasonal rain that sustains the nature and our need for grains, fruits and oil. Let Your Spirit make us rejoice over the forgiveness and mercy that we enjoy continuously, In Jesus’ Most Merciful Name, Amen.
