Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Rom 5:3-4

Results Are Important

Every action we take produces something whether we do it with intention or not, or are aware of the purpose of it or not. But if we carefully observe and learn about the chain of results that continues and develops from that action, we will be truly amazed at the influence it can have on us and how it can shape our character. Paul deeply reflected on the purpose of the events that contributed toward the building of his character and personality, hence he describes: “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” (Rom 5:3-4) May we look for the experiences that provide opportunities for building the true self by being proactive, however hard they may be, so that they cultivate and develop in us the best virtues of perseverance, character and hope.

Abba, Thank You for the purposeful aspects of trials, tribulations and suffering in our life. Let Your Spirit guide us so that we learn and develop perseverance, character and hope, In Jesus’ Most Exalted Name, Amen.
