you are Shimon Kefa [Petros] and upon this TSUR I will build my Kehillah, my Chavurah (the Community of Moshiach) . . . Mt 16:18

Undefeatable Authority Installed

The meetings or encounters that we have with people are considered as coincidences, but they can be determined or predestined also. Finding of the fisherman on the shore and inviting him to be the fisher of men can never be considered as accidental. Lack of skill in his field, sinfulness, fear, ill-temper, and the betrayal can be attributed to the features of his nature, but his answer to the most crucial question brought out the revelation and plan God had for his life: “And, Shimon Kefa said in reply, You are the Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach, the Ben Elohim Chayyim!” (Mt 18:16) And Jesus pointed out to him that his answer was what proceeded from the revelation from His Father, and installed him with the undefeatable authority: “And I also say to you that you are Shimon Kefa [Petros] and upon this TSUR I will build my Kehillah, my Chavurah (the Community of Moshiach) and the shaarei Sheol (gates of Sheol) shall not overpower it.” (Mt 16:18) He went on to describe the effect of his new office and responsibility, saying: “I will give you the maftechot Malchut HaShomayim (keys of the Kingdom of Heaven); and whatever you shall bind as asur (prohibited) on haaretz shall be bound as asur (prohibited) in Shomayim, and whatever you shall loose as mutar (permitted) on haaretz shall be loosed as mutar (permitted) in Shomayim.” (Mt 16:19)  May we recall the moments of revelation in our lives when He declared unto us our mission, and alter and set our compass to reach towards the God-given destiny, as Peter himself submitted and followed.

Abba, Thank You for the wonderful moments of revelation that set our voyage of vocation. Let Your Spirit confirm in us the mission that He has for each one of us, In Jesus’ Most Authoritative Name, Amen.
