“I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I the Lord am the Holy One in Israel.” Ez 39:7

His Holy Name

Ordinarily speaking, a name comprises the totality of the person, his body, soul and spirit. Everyone takes pride in his name and desires to establish it in many ways as and while they live. Consider the name that is of God, the strength, the capacity, and the glory of His name; it surpasses all knowledge and comprehension of the entire human race. A command has been given to the people of Israel through Moses, personally written by God himself, as to how they have to approach, behave and honour His name so that they stay blessed, lest they be condemned for the sin against His Name: “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” (Ex 20:7) The right of knowledge, the rightful use of His name, is the rarest privilege that God’s people possess; yet caution is given as to reverence and honour that is associated with the name. The prophecy confirms the greatness and supremacy of Him establishing the prominence of His name among nations: “I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I the Lord am the Holy One in Israel.” (Ez 39:7) May we glorify His Name as the heirs of the Mighty God, and proclaim the greatness of His by living up to the vacation of being His children.

Abba, Thank You for the revelation of the glory of Your Name. Let Your Spirit make us worship and live up to the vocation as heirs, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
