Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Ps 37:4

Be Delightful Always

Human nature is modified and redefined by the materialistic world of today. An ordinary person who attempts to be satisfied with basic needs is looked down by consumeristic culture as underprivileged or uncivilised for the way he dresses, the food he eats and his living style. Happiness in reality is made available to the middle or upper class of so-called society that defines people or grades them depending on their purchasing power. Believer in God cannot be deceived by this mirage, but should find true joy in being in fellowship with the Creator, who satisfies the needs of the individual according to His plans. “Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Ps 37:4) is the dictum of David that reverses the order and says ‘delight first and desire next.’ Delighting in the the Lord transforms the mind to the superior level of soul-satisfaction, that makes one sing even amidst imprisonment or persecution, like Paul who preaches his philosophy of delight: “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” (Phil 4:4) Let us learn to master the skill of being happy despite the situations and surroundings, and elevate our standard of happiness above the world’s. May God grant us the ability to be content with what we have and take delight in His company and guidance.

Abba, Thank for inviting us to be delightful in being with You. Let Your Spirit make us receive the desires of our hearts from Your mercy. In Jesus’ Most Joyful name, Amen.
