And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; Ex 3:12

He Assures Presence

Bereft of all hope, full of apprehension and abandoned, and being far away from Egypt, Moses was called by name and was revealed of His plan of deliverance, and was commanded to go, with a single assurance: “And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be the token unto thee, that I have sent thee: when thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.” (Ex 3:12) Any task that God assigns may look difficult and impossible to the human mind, but we should take notice of His promise of accompanying and abiding presence, and that one element makes the scene entirely different, that we witness in the exodus of the Israelites. Jesus too came to the earth, called a few men, and taught them the mysteries of salvation, and assigned them with the spreading of the gospel, again with only a single assurance: “teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” (Mt 28:20) The only thing that we should hold onto in our journey of faith, is His presence that goes along with us. May we be fully satisfied with this promise and set our sail to execute the commands He places before us faithfully.

Abba, Thank You for the promise of being with us. Let Your Spirit convince us of the assured presence of Your Son, In Jesus’ Most Reliable Name, Amen.
