You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and sky. Why don’t you know how to interpret the present time? Lk 12:56

Everyone Interprets Differently

Being constantly surrounded by news readers reporting unendingly about events and weather that thrill the listeners, people try to become expert forecasters themselves in the course of time. Nothing wrong in becoming a skilled forecaster, but caution is given to be more aware of his own personhood, what is approaching him, if it is grace or condemnation—this discernment should be the priority: “Then Jesus said to the crowds, ‘As soon as you see a cloud rising in the west, you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and that is what happens. And when the south wind blows, you say, ‘It will be hot,’ and it is. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and sky. Why don’t you know how to interpret the present time?’” (Lk 12:54-56) It is very easy to be an interpreter of extremely volatile signs on the sky, at the cost of convenient negligence to the clear and absolute warning of the true conscience. May we be humble enough to read the message that approaches us everyday in the form of alert, advise, warning, command and love, in varied forms and ways.

Abba, Thank you for the warning to pay attention to the time that personally confronts and challenges us. Let Your Spirit grant us grace to listen to the clearest whisper of the true conscience, that guides, warns and leads us, In Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
