Companies advertise need for different kinds of workers for different jobs at different times. The industry of agriculture advertises jobs depending upon the time and the need of the field. Seed selection, land preparation, crop establishment, water management, nutrient management, crop health management, and harvesting are some of the most important jobs related to cultivation. And here, Jesus is leaving us with the important job of praying for workers of the harvest: “Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.’” (Mt 9:37-38) Not knowing the need of the hour and the demand of the Kingdom, even those who think that they are God’s workers may engage themselves into other areas of work. However, a warning and alert is given us through this message that we be prepared to willingly employ ourselves into His harvest, as the time for harvest has almost come. May we never be deceived or distracted by our individual priorities or concerns, but spare our time and energy available for the harvesting service of His Kingdom.

Abba, Thank You for inviting us to join the service of the harvesting. Let Your Spirit give our hands strength needed for the labor of harvest that is set in front of us, and make us kneel before You to equip us of our minds to endure in this mission, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
