Nahum 1:2 ". . .He avenges his foes. He stands up against his enemies, fierce and raging.."

Choice Makes Difference

God is serious business.

    He won’t be trifled with.

He avenges his foes.

He stands up against his enemies, fierce and raging.

But God doesn’t lose his temper.

    He’s powerful, but it’s a patient power.

Still, no one gets by with anything.

    Sooner or later, everyone pays.

Tornadoes and hurricanes

are the wake of his passage,

Storm clouds are the dust

    he shakes off his feet.

He yells at the sea: It dries up.

    All the rivers run dry.

The Bashan and Carmel mountains shrivel,

    the Lebanon orchards shrivel.

Mountains quake in their roots,

    hills dissolve into mud flats.

Earth shakes in fear of God.

The whole world’s in a panic.

Who can face such towering anger?

Who can stand up to this fierce rage?

His anger spills out like a river of lava,

    his fury shatters boulders.

7-10

God is good,

a hiding place in tough times.

He recognizes and welcomes

    anyone looking for help,

No matter how desperate the trouble.

    But cozy islands of escape

He wipes right off the map.

No one gets away from God. Nahum 1:2-8

The greatest gift that mankind is endowed with is the ability to choose, and that is what makes man a man, woman woman, and we need to bear responsibility over the choice we make, if we claim that we are mature and adults, otherwise we may be included in the category of innocent children who haven’t reached the age that justifies their playful decisions, that changes rapidly and swift, that is why we can really laugh at their ignorance and unimpeachable cry and laughter, and the other category includes those who for some reason are impaired of their reasoning, cared or abandoned, and hence they are never charged for their activities, and the civil society has some pity towards these group of people. The loving God, not only places the options before us, but urges us with the blessings that would follow and flow from His hands when we make wise decision of always choosing good and God:

Deuteronomy 30:15-20 15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, 18 I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

When we consciously choose God and seek His Kingdom, our life will be filled with abundance and blessing, the way He desires and in His time, until then we need to walk by faith, for this God whom we serve, has always protected His dear ones, who claimed that they are depending on Him, not their knowledge, money, power, influence or any worldly resources or influence, as in the case of saintly men who lived in the era of both testaments, and lets hold on to His Son’s Word that never fails:

Matthew 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

The end of age and the coming of our Master’s visit again, would terrify the ones who stand against Him; and His children, who are victims of the evil rule and the allegiance, need to stand cool and stay calm, when He avenges those who willfully chose the evil, will definitely meet with the consequence sooner or later. Let us praise God, for He will protect us amidst all trials and strifes, this faith we need to hold and praise Him for ever.

Abba, Thank You for urging us to choose You and live under Your perfect covering. Let Your Spirit make us rejoice over Your Son’s day of coming soon, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
