To give you a future and a hope.

For I know the plans that I have in mind for you,” declares Adonai, “plans for shalom and not calamity—to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 TLV

For I know—“I” This word suitably suits only to God, and Moses asked Him what shall I tell of the name of the GOD who is sending. He said, “I am that I am.”

We are living in a world where people are having this I problem. Full of self—I did, I that. That is not a right and appropriate attitude of a Christian. God says I know. Yes, He is omniscience, all-knowing.

The plans—it’s in plural, meaning God has many plans. People who have faith in Him, when a plan goes wrong, it says, “When God closes one door, He opens another.”

That I have—yes, in His mansions an unimaginable amount of blessings and plans that He has in store for us.

In mind for you—what else we need? Friends and relatives and what not, colleagues, might have forgotten us. But not GOD. He is mindful of us. That is a blessing.

Psalm 139. Trappist monks who live a solitude, or a life away from the world, cut off from entire family and society, sometimes they feel “Oh, that I am left alone!” That’s when they say: “Lord you know me. When I sit ,when I rise, when I wake up, even a word is not yet on my tongue, even before that You, O Lord, know everything about it.”

So this GOD is mindful of us. This is not a word given by an ordinary person: Declares Adonai. The Lord. And He also explains plans for shalom. Shalom includes everything, everything positive. Prosperity, joy, happiness, health, wealth. Everything included.

Not calamity. That comes to us when enemies or evil agents do that, or because of our stupid decisions we might create it for us. However,

He can reverse everything. Because He wants to give you a future. Don’t brood over past, don’t loose hope, as I do quite often, feeling so defeated, frustrated and depressed. No. There is a future and a hope.

Yes, we have to hope. We have to have a hope in Him.

Loving Father, help us hold on to this promise that comes to us through Prophet Jeremiah, who endured enormous amount of struggles and persecutions. Let Your Spirit give us stable mind to put our trust in You and look up to Your future and a hope. In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
