Seek your happiness in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desire. Psalm 37:4

Your Happiness in the Lord

Seek—that is one of the requisite of anything you want to achieve or have. Things don’t automatically fall into your lap as you might expect. Effort is needed. First among them is seeking.

Then, Jesus say, “Seek ye, and you will find.” So we need to seek. When we seek, people seek their happiness in many places, mostly pleasure giving activities—smoking, drinking, driving, dancing, watching, trekking, traveling, partiying, what not. Of course that gives them some kind of a pleasure. But happiness is something of a higher order.

If you really want happiness, happiness that fills your heart, and soul and spirit, that has to be sought in the Lord.Yes, only in union with Him, your heart, your body, your whole being will enjoy the unfathomable, inexplicable, marvelous happiness.

We need humility, we need wisdom to seek our happiness in the Lord. And those people who really seek happiness in the Lord, they really enjoy the happiness that is undisturbed by anything that might disturb an ordinary human being.

Nothing can take away that happiness. Apostle Paul was able to have that even when he was imprisoned together with Silas. His heart was able to sing aloud.

Psalmist continues.

He will give you, And He will give you your hearts’ desire. Yes, Of course, He is your beloved; you are His beloved.

When you find Happiness in His presence, in Him, Won’t He consider your heart’s desire, whatever it might be? There is nothing He cannot give you. He will give you in His own time, at an appointed hour. He will never disappoint you.

Persons who seek happiness in the Lord will receive beyond their expectation their hearts’ desire. That is an experience and conviction of David. We should also make sure to have such conviction.

Abba, Thank You for this wisdom through Shepherd King David. Let Your Spirit make us realize and experience, and enthrall in jubilation or the happiness in the Lord, and may we also inherit from Your Loving Heart our hearts’ desire that can never be stolen or removed from us. In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
