The grass withers, and its flower falls; but the Lord’s word endures forever.”Isaiah 40:6-8 This is the word of Good News which was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:2

All Flesh Is Like Grass

For, “All flesh is like grass, and all of man’s glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls; but the Lord’s word endures forever.”Isaiah 40:6-8 This is the word of Good News which was preached to you.

1 Peter 1:24-25

All Flesh Is Like Grass

We are, as the psalmist records, little less than angels. Angels are spirit beings,.. whereas human beings are created, even though in the image of God, they are a little limited , since they have the body.

 From dust, God formed them into His image and breathed unto them. ..Anything that is out of the dust goes back to dust. So, it is said all flesh is like grass. And this,  man has to keep in mind.

all of man’s glory like the flower in the grass.

It is said we are grass. Sometimes flowers shoot up in a glandular manner……Pleasing in the eyes of people, attractive, …shining, …blossoming, …Spreading aroma,… giving good scent and feeling, …pleasant scenery, and what not.

But we have to remember: The grass withers, and its flower falls;

Yes, there lived any number of great emperors, scholars, scientists, philosophers, even saints. ….All of them are gone.

You cannot stay here. Like Peter in one of his letters tells, “This shelter(tent) that I am living in is decaying. I don’t know when it collapses. It’s about its getting old, tired and weak.” …..Yes, there will come a time when our energy will fail.

Of course, Jesus has told him, “When you were young you did,  what you feel like doing. The time will come, you will be taken by people, tied, to where you may not even want to go. ….Even you will open your hands and allow them to do the work. So, we should know our limitedness.

But what is lasting, eternal..it is God’s Word.

Isaiah has already prophesied “ the Lord’s word endures forever.”Isaiah 40:6-8 This is the word of Good News which was preached to you.

Peter is reminding, that  we haven’t preached a new gospel. It is from time immemorial. God’s Word, as I said in yesterday’s reflection, that alone will give you life, full-life, life-beyond, eternal-fellowship and banquet in Heaven with your Creator, along with His Son, in the presence of His Holy Ghost.

And that should be the Good News that is to be preached, that is to be believed, that is to be declared, that is to be awaited.

Loving Father, we are grateful that You created us. You are the potter, we are only a clay, …and You have designed us,  the way we should be. Your eternal wisdom has made us , how and what we are today. There were flowers, in several seasons, sometimes no flowers, no achievements, look rotten, but let us depend upon Your Word, that comes from Heaven, ……like rain and snow that giveth life to the grass and flowers. Let Your Spirit make us rejoice in this Good News, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
