Trouble and anguish are come upon me: yet are the commandments my delight. Psalm 119:143

The Commandments are my delight.

Trouble and anguish are come upon me: yet are the commandments my delight.

Psalm 119:143

The Commandments are my delight.

Trouble and anguish

—no human person would welcome or invite them into their lives, yet they come uninvited, when you least expect, when you think things go normal. That is when trouble comes. When you believe that things are ok, now that everything is going to be fine, that’s when anguish arrives.

Trouble and anguish—they are everywhere. Not a human being can escape from this, even if you are a saint or sinner, rich or poor, intellectual or stupid, dull-head, it attacks any and every human being.

And today, as I am recording this, it has come upon me too. But I believe, like my Savior who handed it over to the Lord:

He wept, and trouble and anguish came upon Him, pleaded with His disciples to be with Him.”Will you stay awake with Me for an hour?” There were nobody to comfort Him. Sweat dropped onto the earth, like blood. That much He was troubled with anguish.

Human being will definitely have to go through. It’s a tough road, all have to cross. One time or the other, it is going to come in your life. It happened in Moses’s life, it happened in prophets’ life, even the great prophet Elijah had to go through. Even the great Amos had to go through, Jeremiah had to go through, Paul, the Ambassador for Christ, had to go through. Nobody is an exception to pass through this channel of trouble and anguish.

But, David says—he had his own share of trouble and anguish, many at times bigger than ours—, yet, he is saying, “yet are the commandments my delight.” Yes, that is where we had to put our trust.

“I am God, no-one else.” We have a God who is above all gods-small “g”. He alone triumph, He alone is a Victor, He alone is omnipotent , omniscient, omnipresent. There is not a place we can go, be it up to heaven or under the earth or on the plane of the earth, anywhere far and wide, He’s there. His Name, His Days—they are the prime most commandments He gave to Moses, inscribed on the tablet, the stone.

Jesus combined everything together. “Love God above everything else. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” These commandments, if you can believe, practice, yes, when you practice you often fail. Ask any muster of any skill. They had their share of failure, trouble and anguish. But finally, the One Who Gives Victory to the one who perceives, will definitely give it to you and me.

Abba, Father, Thank You so much for strengthening us, amidst trouble and anguish. Let your commandments be our delight, fills our entire being, removes all uncertainties, fears, apprehensions and worries of any kind, away from us. Let Your Spirit be our Helper and Companion in this battle, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
