Thy word is a lantern unto my feet, and a light unto my paths. Psalm 119:105

A Lantern unto My Feet

 Thy word

--Word is everything. Word is combined of letters that gives meaning to everything--be it an object, food,  creatures of anything, feeling of anything. So many other things you can put that into.

The Bible says the Word was there, right in the Beginning. One of the highly sophisticated book of the Bible is John's Gospel, Chapter 1. It's about the Word.

The Word that was there in the Beginning,

the Word that was causing the universe to come into existence,

the Word that became flesh,

the Word that made salvation possible,

the Word that worketh wonders, miracles and healings,

the Word that abideth by the side of the Father,

the Word.... it's all about the Word.

The Word of God is a bunch or brunch of things that is entrusted to us toward the well-being of our day to day, general life as well.

is a lantern

--living in the world of digital, electronic age, we do not much understand the age of lantern. I remember as I was young, lantern was so useful in villages when there was no so-called "flooding lights," that is making every night as if it is day, that is why sports activities are happening even in the midnight, people think it is day--flood light.

So, there was a time when lantern was helping people. Enough you lit a lantern, it will give. It might be not as much as as we see in today's electronic age, but lantern had its own purpose. It was helping. As children, I remember, we were able to read and study and prepare for exams, we were able to walk through without fear. Lantern did a lot of things.

unto my feet

--we are living in a world of darkness. Darkness of many kinds--fear, doubt, depression, anxiety, addiction, compulsive behaviors, you can put any number of negative things there, it's all darkness.

Enough you lit a lantern, you have, at least, a minimum of light. With that if you can proceed, you can still go ahead. They say: even if you are put in a jungle, which is full of dark, enough you have a candle in your hand, you will be able to see at least one step ahead. And if you walk that one step with that candle in your hand, lit, you will see another feet of light. Just that way, you can proceed. You don't have to have the entire space to be illuminated. Enough you have a lantern, or a light or a touch in your hand.

And the Word of God is that lantern. If you have that in your heart, in your mind, in your soul and spirit, that will lead you through any darkness whatsoever.

The Psalmist says,

, and a light unto my paths.

--Paths are many. Be it your personal life, be it your family life, be it your business life, be it your work, or whatever,  even a group you belong to for whatever reasons, anywhere the Word of God has a light for that, a Word for that, that enlightens how you are supposed to be, how you ought to be a father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, relative, in-law...there are examples given with enormous illustrations that, if it is understood and followed, your way will be much more clearer than it is right now. Let's keep His Word as a Lantern unto our feet, and a Light unto our paths, that we may reach the destination that God has destined for us.

Abba, Thank You for giving us not only Your Son, the Word, but also the written Word, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, by the enormous efforts of your servants, be it prophets, apostles who wrote epistles and other kinds of literature. Let that give our feet light, help us that we may hold on to this Lantern and walk the paths, In Jesus' Most Powerful Name--the Name-Above-All-Names, the Name Who said when He was here, I AM THE WAY. Let's follow His Way. Amen.
