For you know what was paid to set you free from the worthless manner of life handed down by your ancestors. 1 Pt 1:18-19

Paid to set you free

For you know what was paid to set you free from the worthless manner of life handed down by your ancestors. It was not something that can be destroyed, such as silver or gold; it was the costly sacrifice of Christ, who was like a lamb without defect or flaw. 1 Peter 1:18-19

God, out of His unimaginable, generous love, created mankind. Created them  male and female, Adam and Eve, set them in the Garden, instructed them not to eat of a particular tree that would harm them of their life that they are enjoying. However, they've been cheated by the devil and been trapped by its seductive argument, thereby they ate the fruit, and thereby became slave to sin and his domain. God wanted His children to be free, but the cost of freedom was unimaginable: it was the blood of Christ. The Blood of Christ who was like a lamb without defect or flow. But God wanted His children to be released, liberated from the crutches of sin and the enemy. So He was ready to pay the price. It was not an ordinary gold or silver, but it was something beyond our imagination to comprehend. That is what Peter is saying in this letter.

For you know what was paid to set you free from the worthless manner of life handed down by your ancestors. It was not something that can be destroyed, such as silver or gold; it was the costly sacrifice of Christ,

Yes, nobody else could do it. Only Christ could do it.  He did that as a sacrifice so that we may all have eternal life and be called as children of God, one more time be reconciled with Him, and have a life worthy of children enjoying communion and fellowship with the Father.

He was like a lamb without defect or flaw.

Imagine, such Christ had to be sacrificed for our salvation. Do we realize what is the costly sacrifice that Jesus undertook? If we realize, we should live accordingly. Our actions, our words should exhibit the manner of the saved people.

Father, Thank You for setting us free from the worthless manner of life handed down by the ancestors. Thank You for the costly sacrifice of Christ, who was life a lamb without defect or flow. Let Your Spirit make us realize the price that is given, and behave according to the freedom that we received and live like the children of salvation, In Jesus' Most Powerful Name, Amen.
