in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Rom 12:1

Your bodies as a living sacrifice

There is a protocol that needs to be followed when you approach the dignitaries of the nations. Believers need to follow the higher and superior observance while approaching the presence of the Almighty God, even if we call Him as “father.” Paul pleads with Roman christians on the importance of the body being offered as the living sacrifice: “Brethren, in view of all we have just shared about God’s compassion, I encourage you to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, dedicated to God and pleasing to him. This kind of worship is appropriate for you.” (Rom 12:1) Any offering involves a sacrifice, but giving God anything that we want is not what is recommended or acceptable. Test of faith for Abraham was to respond to the command of the specific offering: “He said, ‘Take your dear son Isaac whom you love and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I’ll point out to you.’” (Gen 22:2) Of course it would have been the hardest of demands for him, yet Abraham chose to please God; hence, got his son back from God. May we sincerely dedicate our bodies as living sacrifices that alone is pleasing and acceptable to our Maker. For it is written:"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;  you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (1 Cor 6:19-20)

Abba, Thank You for asking us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices. Let Your spirit enable us to generously offer it as the pleasing sacrifice, In Jesus’ Most Beloved Name, Amen.
